Now that I've stressed you out, take a deep breath. Those days were NOTHING. In many cases, technology makes life easier, but in the world of standardized testing 4th-graders on computers, it equated quite a little stress. Have you ever tried to simultaneously direct twenty 10-year-olds onto one site with individual case-sensitive passwords? I'm cringing. Now, I have great kiddos, and I could go on for days about standardized testing & how I think the world needs to change, but that wouldn't change my current reality.
After scheduling a block of time we could borrow computers yesterday, we finally got everyone logged in only to discover the wrong test was posted. However, it needed to be taken, so we went ahead, with the bump along the way of having to ultimately print two of the tests to be taken old-school style due to computer glitches. Luckily, today was one of four practice tests, and I'd like your thoughts, prayers, and an additional bottle of wine before we begin the real deal in the coming weeks! :)
My sister said it best in this texting conversation over lunch today...
Me: "Go away, standardized testing on computers! #the90shaditright #pencils"
Sister: "THe 90s had everything right. Doc Martens were stylish AND supportive. #changedpriorities"
