The most significant realization was as I picked out new tennis shoes with my parents this weekend. We had some time to kill, and I've been in need of a new pair - I hear two years is too long for shoes you work out in regularly! Oops. Anyway, I began by asking which brand I should go with, and upon hearing, my heart sank a little because nothing made by that company was cute! Cue high-maintenance point, number 1.
For an hour - yes, an hour (plus?) - my parents patiently suggested shoes, commented on shoes, sat back and watched me try more shoes, and waited while the age-old debate (roll with me here) of cute vs. comfort took place. I will have you know, I found both. I'm not so high-maintenance that I would buy uncomfortable tennis shoes for the cute factor. Heels are another story, but I do have a practical side, believe it or not. What I wound up purchasing may not be what true runners deem "the best shoe," but I'm not a long-distance or even super serious runner, I've just found that twenty minutes of running equals a bowl of ice cream a lot faster than walking does. How's that for logic? I have enjoyed getting into running a little more, but I don't have my eye on anything more than a 5K. With that said, I wound up with a pair that's comfortable, light, supportive...and cute! Check, check, check.
I also need to take the time to thank my parents who are very patient and kind with me, because they didn't even complain, they just kept handing me options! Maybe that's where I get it. Love you, Mom :) I'm off to try my hand at kindergarten today - pray for me. Who's the patron saint of kindergartners? I need to go google that. Have a good Monday & stay warm!
