- 12-pack cooler
- Insulated tumbler
- $10 coffee gift card
- Super-size aspirin
- 21 mini shots
- Multi-flavored Beergaritas (these were a nice cooler filler & they weighed it down nicely)
- Fill & Sip noodle (how fun is this?!)
For Olivia's 21st birthday last weekend, my sisters and I wanted to put together a fun gift. I searched Pinterest, and it turns out, there's a lot of ways to put alcohol in cute containers :) However, I'm all about functional gifts. My mom has a new theory that she only gives consumable gifts for her parents and friends, because no one needs to collect more "stuff." While this is definitely applicable to my grandparents, it also has its place where 21 is concerned...or all gifts, for that matter. I've realized everything my parents sort now is a product of stuff they collected in their earlier years, and as an avid organizer, I'm determined to keep that to a minimum in my own life!
Don't get me wrong - this was still your stereotypical 21st birthday gift! However, I decided to pull its contents together in a fun beach cooler for Olivia. Cute baskets are always fun, but what do you do with them later? The cooler solved that problem, and we had fun putting this gift together! I meant to get a picture of its contents, but I failed you where that's concerned. Instead, here's a handy list!
My sister is getting married next week. She's the second of four of us to do so, and while I'm a crafty lady with an affinity for details and cute fonts, watching sisters get married could convince me to do so on a remote island! I'm kidding - anyone who knows me knows planing a wedding is basically the epitome of "Meredith-ness." However, that's not on my radar AT all, so I've had the fun of projecting my detail-oriented, type A, planning personality on my older sister, who is happy to delegate detail work.
I spent yesterday with my mom, one of my sisters, my mom's sisters, a cousin, and my grandma putting some final details on wedding prep before next week's snowy extravaganza! Oh, and having some vodka punch, because, well, it's wedding week. My mom & I led a joint effort back in August of making and canning 500+ jars of pepper jelly (green is the wedding color, of course!), and yesterday each jar needed its own cute label! We also cut out & assembled fun goodies for hotel bags before cleaning 40 vases...one of the details I could've done without! It will be a busy, fun week, but who can resist a good wedding?!
In other news, I start teaching PE Monday...seriously, I'm as shocked as you are. I got my official license Thursday (Happy New Year, to me!), and I'm headed back to the school I student taught at for most of the spring semester. I'm so excited everything fell into place. I hope having dreams about PE doesn't become my regular, though. More on that, later.
This year I've been done with my own shopping for about a week now. I've been helping Santa pick up a few things (ho, ho, ho!), but I enjoy that, too. I'm sick in that I like the hustle and bustle of this time of year! Even though I'm posting these as a last-minute gift, they're one of the first things I picked up this year, and for all my friends' birthdays throughout the year. (This, by the way, leaves me looking for next year's perfect gift since they all have these now!)
These are an Anthropologie find, and I love them for a few reasons: I like a set of 5 because in my 4-H days, we learned early that you don't decorate in evens (some things stick!). I also like their price, the fact that they're dishwasher safe, and their oh-so-adorable colors. You can mix and match the colors - these are sold individually. They might seem too small for anything but decoration, but they hold a single serving of ice cream (I need the visual reminder), they beat a single egg well for baking, they're perfect for a handful of nuts, and so many other times I find myself reaching for one of these bowls. I also love that Anthro has great gift boxes, making it so easy to throw some cute paper on these and call it a day. If you're still in need of a gift today, go grab these! I can't wait for their recipient to open them this week!
*Anthropologie doesn't know me, and that's okay.
This isn't a paid advertisement, I just love these cute little bowls!
Welcome! I'm a twenty-something newbie teacher taking on life...hopefully in style! See what it's all about here.
