I did this a couple years ago as a new grad with an English degree of all things, but since officially jumping into education in December, I've had another round. I've been so lucky that they've needed a stream of long-term subs in the school I student taught in, and luckier that they offered them to me. It's so reassuring to know as a new grad that someone truly has confidence in you.
Despite sub positions, I've spent most of my free time since December applying for jobs in most all the districts in my area. It all came to a head in the last two weeks when I was called in for two interviews! I've had a lot going on, but I've been hesitant to post about it because I'm pretty superstitious for a Catholic girl! The two positions I applied for were a 5th grade spot in the school I student taught in and have been actively subbing in all semester, and a Catholic 6th grade position that I was also very interested in. To make a long story short, I found myself Thursday with two job offers and 24 hours to decide! Now, I know that's a lucky place to be, but talk about stress!
I'm so happy to report...drumroll...that I will be teaching 5th grade in the fall! I'll be not only at the school I feel like is home, but I'll also be teaching with a team I've collaborated with since August. I've been so excited to share this with you, but I wanted everything to be official first.
I'm feeling huge relief on this side of the past two weeks, and I could not be more excited!!!
