As we started our short week yesterday, I was struck by how caring my students are. It's true that I have a few squirrels on my hands this year, but even squirrels have hearts :) Truly I have a class of very caring, talented young students, and despite a few rough days, I've never woken up and wished I wasn't going to work for the day, or wished I could move on to next August. I feel so blessed to work with my 21 co-workers daily, and to know I'll learn something from them, too.
Yesterday, they worked on this school-wide project, and much to my surprise, no one listed Minecraft as what they're most thankful for. Instead, I was so awestruck by the lists of education, shelter, parent support, and meaningful friendships. They're such a great age, and daily they leave me laughing...usually when it's time for a laugh! I'm so thankful for this bunch, and for the opportunity to learn together.
